SUMMARY:
Performs all jobs relating to the Machine Shop Deburr/Finishing Department.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The metal finisher performs the following duties on a wide range of products and equipment. Work is performed under supervision by the department Lead.
- Follow job schedule to perform bench operations to polish and remove burrs from a variety of machined and fabricated parts.
- Assist Floor Supervisor with the assignment of jobs to the Finishing Department’s personnel.
- Create tools to increase efficiency of part finishing.
- Reading and interpreting blue prints.
- Manual polishing and metal finishing.
- Powered device use for polishing and metal finishing including dremels, sanders, drills, grinders and other tools to complete parts.
- Use of special tools to remove burrs from critical areas.
- Inspect own work, correct or report detected discrepancies to supervisor.
- Maintain an organized and clean work environment.
- Maintain necessary records. Move materials in the performance of duties or as directed. Detect and report improper operation, faulty equipment, defective materials and unusual conditions to supervisor.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School diploma or GED required.
- Experience with Metal Finishing.
- Trade school, technical school, or military education preferred.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to learn to perform the job assignments.
- Ability to read or learn to read Blue Prints.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
